To
God be the Glory....I am honored and excited to announce
that a scholarship has been established in honor of Coach
H. Chandler Jr. Coach Chandler left a legacy that must live
on. The vision came to me on May 24, 2004. The vision was
for me to implement outreach services that would benefit
people from all walks of life. Coach Chandler lived a life
that reflected the life of Christ. He never saw color, nor
did he pass judgment. He believed that every child should
be afforded the opportunity to be all they could be.
Coach Chandler was a man that could talk to God in prayer
and make you feel that help was on the way. As a deacon
he brought fire to church service until his final day on
this earth. Growing up under the leadership, guidance, and
direction of Coach Chandler has made many of us who we are
today. If you were blessed to cross Coach Chandler's path
for whatever reason, directly or indirectly, you were left
with a memory for life.
I sometimes wonder "why me," then I can hear the
voice saying "why not you." After many ups and
downs and trials and tribulations, I made up in my mind
that if God said it... "Just do it." I am proud
to release the application for the first scholarship on
the anniversary of Coach Chandler's death, March 15, 2005.
I give thanks to my pastor, Kaderick Jones of Eighth Street
Baptist Church. When I told him about my vision, he told
me that it was bigger than what I could imagine at that
time. At present, I am in the process of selecting a Board
of Directors and submitting an application to obtain a 501(c)
3 for non-profit status. Thank you God. A special thanks
to Ruth Chandler, the wife of Coach Chandler for allowing
me to carry out the legacy of Coach Chandler, sharing his
life with people all around the world.
Keep me in your prayers. I will be obedient, faithful and
humble to what God is getting ready to do with the HILTON
CHANDLER SCHOLARSHIP FUND (FOUNDATION).
